A
married couple are longing to have a child. They live in a house that overlooks
a lovely garden in which wildflowers grow in wealth. However, the man and his
wife are not allowed to go near the garden because it belongs to a wicked
witch. One day… the husband sneaks into the garden and steals some of the
wildflowers and his wife eats them. The husband goes back for more, but is
caught by the witch who makes him promise…To find out what happens, you will
have to read the story.
This is a
very popular story by Brothers Grimm and most children have either seen the
movie or read the book.
The
illustrations are created by watercolor and some drawing. They are magical and
unlike what you would think. The illustrations are full of diagonal lines and
curves. The people have a more rounded face than most characters. The colors
are bright and captivating.

I would have students get in a group draw their own
version of the characters and retell the story in order. Then have them change
up the order and tell how they would like the story to go.
For a student with a disability, I would make sure they
understood the assignment and put them in a group that would give the student
the opportunity to participate.

This book is adorable! I love your idea on incorporating it in your classroom to allow students to retell their own version! This would be a great opportunity to also incorporate technology and use a digital storytelling app such as Telegami or Toontastic. They could get really creative and use their own voices for the characters!
ReplyDeleteThe illustrations in this book look very artistic. I also like your idea for the activity. I'm sure students will have fun with that!
