In class one day, Elliot was drawing his world and the teacher decided to send it around the world and it ended up in the hands of another little boy, Kailash. Elliot lives and America and Kailash lives in India. They write and to each other and share how their world is. As they are writing to each other they realize there are many differences in their culture, yet they are the same. They both live with their family, but the people look different. They both have an alphabet, but the letters are different.

The illustrations are vivid and colorful. Jenny Sue Kostecki-Shaw does a great job showing the differences in culture, yet how they are similar. I liked the illustration when Kailash was explaining what his city looked like. She used the river to give a tone of movement to the story and shows the architect of India. The illustrations have many patterns. The illustrations use both drawing and painting. She captures American and Indian culture and shows similarities and differences through her illustrations.
